The City Street Department maintains traffic signs and lights, repairs damage to City road surfaces, repaves on a regular schedule, and cuts grass and brush along road right of ways. Several County and State roads within the City are maintained by Shelby County and the AL. Dept of Transportation. Residents may report any street or road problems to City Hall at 665-2555 or to the Police Department after regular office hours at 665-1264.
	Effective August 13, 2007 the City of Montevallo is requiring Street Cut Permits.  Any work resulting in the cutting, excavation, removal, or replacement of a City street, alley, curbs, or sidewalk requires the issuance of a permit by the Public Works Supervisor. A street cut permit is required for work affecting the street surface and/or curbs and/or sidewalks.
