April is Earth Month To celebrate this year, Sustainable Montevallo is partnering with IMPACT Montevallo on family friendly activities from April 17th through April 24th.
Weeklong Team Scavenger Hunt (Prizes Awarded): April 17th thru April 24th.
Get your team together to have fun, win prizes, do something great for our community and celebrate Earth Day.
Teams will need to register using the google form link. All participants will receive a goody bag of items. The top three teams will mean cash gift cards or a donation to their chosen organization.
1st place: $250, 2nd place: $150 and 3rd place: $100.
Teams will be provided a bingo type card with challenges that must be completed during the week of Earth Day, April 17 - April 24. Team must upload pictures to this Facebook group @MontevalloEarthDay to get credit for meeting each challenge. There are some bonuses too. Please make sure you put your teams name and challenge completed in the caption. (E25, A50, R100, etc. just like bingo)
If all teams complete the entire board, the deciding factor will be who collected the most trash and recycling (each BAG is worth 100 points) and most creative pictures.

 Collect the caps from the bottles/cartons you use and let's make some art with it! Using bottle caps, glue and a canvas we are going to create some abstract work using bottle caps of different sizes and colors.
We are also going to make paper! Instead of just tossing old paper, let's give it new life. Join us to create homemade paper by recycling old paper. We'll be working through the different steps of paper-making together and you can create your own paper and take it home that evening!

 You Are Invited to the Giving Tuesday Open House for the Center for Elder Justice & Advocacy Justice For All November 30, 2021, Drop In from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. 4804 Highway 25, Montevallo, 35115. Drop in and tour the new home for the Center for Elder Justice & Advocacy. Refreshments provided.
Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A) partners with other key stakeholders to protect older adults from mistreatment M4A, in partnership with several key stakeholders, has brought together a network of multi-disciplinary agencies and organizations as one strong force to create the Elder Justice Alliance of Shelby County. The mission of the Elder Justice Alliance is to mobilize communities to prevent and properly respond to adult mistreatment so people can live with dignity, purpose, and peace as they age. The Alliance will increase coordination and collaboration among responders, law enforcement, service providers, and other relevant stakeholders; improve the prevention, detection, reporting of, and response to elder mistreatment; and deter elder abuse through community education, professional training, and support to older residents and caregivers. M4A’s new nonprofit organization, 4 ALL Foundation, will oversee the Alliance as well as work with stakeholders to develop an Adult & Caregiver Respite Program and a Temporary Elder Emergency Shelter in Montevallo. This facility will also provide direct support and assistance to older adults and their caregivers and provide extensive training to professionals and the general public. An Open House will be held November 30, 2021 (Giving Tuesday) at the new location in Montevallo. Anyone interested to learn more or to take a tour can do so between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. As a society, much is done to prepare people to become parents of children but little is done to prepare children to become caregivers of aging parents; the respite center and temporary shelter will help support families who care for aging loved ones so that the caregiver and loved one can better care for themselves and so that all Alabamians can age with dignity, security, and independence. We encourage the media to attend this event.
