Sister City Commission

The mission of the Montevallo Sister City Commission is to foster cultural, economic, industrial, athletic and educational exchanges between Montevallo and communities in other parts of the world.

On alternating summers, the citizens of Montevallo and the citizens of Echizen, Japan host middle-school students from the other's country. This has allowed students from each country to experience each other's cultures firsthand.

The Commission feels strongly that these exchanges will celebrate cultural diversity and broaden individuals' global understanding, interpersonal communication and intercultural knowledge, thus strengthening the foundation for peace and tolerance as our community moves toward a more internationalized citizenry.
