George Dailey Park, located in front of Montevallo Middle School, embodies a rich heritage in Montevallo. George Dailey was the first African American City Council member in Montevallo and is credited for beginning the movement for the City Council to be elected by districts. Montevallo Middle School was formerly Prentice High School, Montevallo's first and only African American High School from 1950-1970. George Dailey was the last principal of this school.
Approximately an acre in size, George Dailey Park provides a unique respite and recreation area for children and adults alike. Open sunrise until dusk, this park features a pavilion, picnic tables, playground equipment, park benches, playground equipment restrooms – the perfect place for family reunions, birthday parties or special events.
The pavilion is available to be rented for a minimal fee. Rental reservations are made on a first-come, first-served, basis. Park Rental Facilities are managed through the Montevallo Parks and Recreation Department by visiting: https://montevalloparksandrec.com/Facilities.aspx.
