Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. March and Program: The Shelby County N.A.A.C.P. honors the Life and Legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by celebrating individuals that go above and beyond to serve others. Everybody is invited to participate in the Montevallo MLK event and if you would like to nominate someone for our Drum Major Award you can do so until January 5th, 2026. Planned agenda for Monday, January 19th, 2026, will be as follows: 9:45 AM - Line-up behind Montevallo McDonald's on Island Street; 10:00 AM - March begins at the corner of Vine and Main Street and goes up Main Street, turns left onto Bloch Street, and finishes at Montevallo High School. At 10:30 AM - the MLK Ceremony will be held inside the Montevallo High School auditorium. Everyone is invited to help celebrate community leaders in Shelby County.
