Mayor Rusty Nix, the City Council, the Administrative Staff and Employees of the City of Montevallo are saddened by the passing of our friend and co-worker Wayne Whatley. A dedicated member 
of our Park and Recreation Crew since 2021, Wayne worked to help make things better in our community from preparing athletic fields and park maintenance, to driving the bus for our seniors to attend events and activities. His warm smile, pleasant personality and work ethic will be greatly missed by the City. Visitation will be held at Charter Funeral Home located at 2521 Hwy. 31 in Calera on Monday March 9, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Services will follow at Noon. Burial will be in the Montevallo City Cemetery on County Road 73.
Montevallo City Hall will be closed on Monday March 9th from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM to allow our employees to pay their respects.
